You might be hearing more music around the city.
June 21st through July 5th, 60 upright pianos will be placed all over our city in select parks, plaza and streets.
The project called “Play Me I’m Yours” was created by a british artist, Luke Jerram. New York City’s 60 pianos are distributed by an organization called Sing For Hope.
ANYONE CAN PLAY and enjoy them!

Here are some maps to find the piano closest to you.
The New York City installation is the largest of the project, which since 2008 has brought pianos to London, Sydney and Sao Paulo. Manhattan will get 27 pianos, Brooklyn 10, Queens five, and four to both Staten Island and the Bronx. Besides the ferry terminal, the Staten Island Zoo, the Children’s Museum at Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden and the South Beach Boardwalk all will get pianos.
When the installation is over, the instruments are slated for donation to schools and hospitals, according to the organization, which coordinated the citywide project.

5th Avenue has a new surprise!
A line drawn onto the sidewalk divides “Fast Paced” New Yorkers from “Slower Moving, Window Shopping, Tourists.
This is a little prank that you’ll find on the East side of 22nd to 23rd streets.
My friends at the New York Post has this video on their site.

The weather this past week has really brought everyone down. No sunshine, all rain. But, just because mother nature won’t provide the sunshine, doesn’t mean you can’t have something sweet in your life! So get ready for the PopUp New York Cupcake Challenge!

For this PUNY Cupcake Challenge, I’m gonna give you guys a list of the most popular & delicious cupcakes in the borough of Manhattan. With this list, pick a day (preferably sunny and warm, once mother nature decides to be in a good mood) and make your way around the city for some cupcake taste testing.

First, head over to world famous Magnolia’s bakery. I know what you’re thinking, you’re probably saying to yourself that nothing can compete with their delicious, daily-made cupcakes. While Red Velvet is my personal favorite, one can’t judge until they taste the others on the list. After you devour your cupcake, make your way overĀ  to The Cupcake Cafe. While Magnolia’s is more grunge and indie-rock, The Cupcake Cafe is all about the florals and the decoration. Their sweets are designed so beautifully, you’ll feel like you’re at a wedding just looking at them. Finish up with your tasty piece of artwork, and wander over to Billy’s Bakery. The cute thing about Billy’s is that their cupcakes are so simplistic that they look homemade; as if your grandmother or little sister just pulled them out of the oven and iced them in the kitchen. Last but not least, go to Crumbs! The thing I like most about Crumbs, aside from their cupcakes decoration, would have to be the names they have for their goods. They’re far from your normal cupcakes, with all kinds of sprinkles and toppings like oreos and peanut butter cups.

I bet your mouth is watering just from reading this! So slap on your stretchy pants and a pair of walking shoes, grab an umbrella incase the weather isn’t exactly what you expected, and take part in the PopUp New York Cupcake Challenge! Then, e-mail PopUp New York and let us know what your favorite spot from our list was!
