I’m a 90s baby and everything was all fine and dandy for my generation until the Internet had to come along and ruin everything. It started with Instant Messenger in the 4th grade, when everybody in school made terrible screenname choices. I would go on AIM to talk to my 5th grade boyfriend all the time, and then we would ignore each other until recess and then we would ignore each other again until he logged on and I waited for him to initiate conversation because even as a 9 year old I knew that all ladies should be chased. Then Apple blew up and iChat ran everyones lives until one day I was online and found a link to my brothers MySpace and got really nervous that it was an online dating profile or some sort of porn thing because I was 13 and didn’t keep up with the times. After that, suddenly everybody had a MySpace. Top 8′s, profile songs, personalized page themes, and profile pictures were all anybody talked about for like, six years straight. Band profile pages were the only way to find online music for way too long. One girl that I think I only ever said two words to one time in math class when she dropped her pen and I picked it up for her told me that I had a really pretty profile picture in the middle of class. That was weird, and the day I realized internet stalking was happening. Sadly, MySpace was ran over five times in a row by the SUV that is Facebook – which complicated everything even more – but MySpace will always have a special place in my heart. My page still existed until a couple months ago. It said the last time I logged on was like 2008 or something like that, which is really depressing for Tom. Anyway, the point of all this is that you can relive your prime taking-100-selfies-in-the-backyard-with-your-friends-until-you-get-the-best-prof-pic days. Adventure[s] is throwing MySpace The Party 2! The first MySpace themed party was such a hit, that another one is on the way. Re-do your best scene girl hair, put on that t-shirt from Hot Topic, blast some Hot Hot Heat, and throw on your best duckface cause MySpace is back for the night. The people with the best outfits will win prizes, and there will be a photobooth for you to take your best MySpace pics. All the fun is going down on Saturday July 7th at 10PM at The Bell House.
